Life would be boring if everyone marched to the beat of the same drum. A little chameleon who’s supposed to be a master at camouflage is just unable to assimilate and always stands out. At first he’s embarrassed that he keeps on stepping out of line, but then he realizes he enjoys not looking like everyone and everything else around him. Three cheers for crazy patterns and eye-catching colours! A rabbit baby is also “different, and not like that”: his breaking the rules saves lives. While he’s sneaking out of the burrow one night to watch the stars, he spots the bad fox plotting for a delicious rabbit dinner… Good thing that someone was being improper and can now warn the family! The picture book “Different, and not like that” has a charming retro print aesthetic and an unassuming text, which makes it anything but mainstream. It is a great read for all self-possessed and headstrong readers and for those who want to become such.
