In this outstanding book, evocative haikus gently float through coloured, seasonal dream landscapes. Rodoula Pappa’s poems vividly describe the connection children have to nature, promoting their ability to experience it openly and observe even the simplest things as magical. In the process, leisure time is shown to be a crucial part of children’s cognitive and personal development. Seng Soun Ratanavanh’s pictures show the special way that children sense the world around them and internalize it to make it part of themselves. In bright colours, the illustrator animates what children care about, big like a strawberry that gives hugs, little like a lamb at the centre of a daisy and soft like snow falling as icing on a cake. The high-quality, eco-friendly paper that the book is printed on completes the aesthetic design of the book, which won the picture book award given out by the magazine “O Anagnostis” in 2018.
