This picture book tells the well-known story of Noah’s Ark that survives the Flood from a special point of view. A pair of chameleons and Noah’s wife, Na’ama, play the central roles. Na’ama makes sure that all animals on the Ark are fed and taken care of, as Noah does too. Na’ama is concerned because the chameleons are not eating and grow weak. When she discovers worms underneath the deck who are helping themselves to the enormous fruit reserves, Noah comes to look, bringing the chameleons to the stock room by chance. The two animals decimate the number of worms, thereby saving all the Ark’s passengers from starving. In her first children’s book, Yael Molchadsky emphasizes the role of Noah’s wife in the story of the Ark and shows that every creature is important and has a specific role to play. Orit Bergman’s colourful, humorous illustrations, which bear some folk art elements, give expression to the individual traits of the Ark’s creatures.
