In this book, one finds 137 questions and well over 200 animals drawn in black-and-white or in colour, painted with watercolours, torn from paper and collaged or assembled from various materials. Some are sketchy, others realistic, surreal or oddly distorted. And all of them are unique! As is common in animal books, they are presented in groups – though here the categories are a little different. For example, there are animals made from everyday objects, angular mice and rats, animals made from leaves, or animals in black and yellow. This enchanting book becomes even more inventive through the questions connected with the pictures, mostly related to how the animals are made: »Is a creature drawn only with black lines transparent or white?« »If I paint a tiger red, is it still a tiger?« Through such surprising yet deep questions, Dipacho invites readers to reflect on the creative power of imagination and the endless possibilities of art.
