»Todos los besos del mundo« is a delightful picture book that introduces children to the world of kissing in a highly entertaining way, from good-morning kisses to good-night kisses, from gentle pecks to loud smacks, from melodic aunty kisses to damp dog kisses. People kiss all over the world, but in every place a kiss sounds different—MUAC in Spanish, SMACK in English, or CHŪ in Japanese, to name a few examples. The variety is immense: greeting kisses, farewell kisses, love kisses, friendship kisses, reconciliation kisses, and cultural quirks such as nose nudges and triple kisses. The book shows how universal and multifaceted affection is. Only one thing is off-limits: being kissed if you don’t want to be. The illustrations by Mariona Tolosa Sisteré for Marta Morros Serret’s text are fabulous, humorous, affectionate, wildly dynamic, and full of clever ideas. The luminous, high-contrast images in all possible kinds of intense colours are truly striking and give the book a stunning expressiveness. [JW]
