If you sometimes wonder where lost socks end up, here you’ll find the answer. Two brightly striped specimens – twins, of course! – lead a fulfilled life together (»sport, films, dance lessons«), until one day they are separated in the washing machine. While one dries gloomily on the line, the other embarks on a turbulent journey. First, she is whirled through stinky drainpipes, then she drifts out to sea and finally lands on an island, the »Place Where Lost Socks Go.« Here socks of all ages, colours, lengths, and patterns live in a diverse society, which includes all kinds of professions and lifestyles. The story’s protagonist is happy there too, except when she occasionally has to think of her sister. But don’t worry, there will be a happy ending. Luciana De Luca and Giulia Pastorino tell an original, imaginative tale. The laconic humour of the concise text matches perfectly with the exuberant colourfulness of the witty, lively illustrations.
